As human, we continuously seek to achieve things in our life or to put it simply – we chase after things we don’t have with us yet. When we are aware of what we truly possess and appreciate it, the less we would focus on what is not there with us. This also means we would feel more fulfilled.
Being grateful to every small or big thing we have in our life, tangible or intangible, makes us feel abundant. It keeps us grounded and help us see life in a more positive way, especially when we make it a practice. We begin to appreciate simple pleasures and things that we previously took for granted.
Being grateful is great but making it a ‘practice’ is transformative.
I have made it a ritual to practice gratitude daily. When I wake up every morning, I express my gratitude to the Higher Power or the Universe for awarding me another day to live a more meaningful life and accomplish what I wish to. And before I hit the bed at night, I again express my gratitude to each and everyone, including the Higher Power, who have positively contributed to my day – like it may be finding a nice parking area or a smooth check-in into a hotel. So I go to sleep with a consciousness of gratitude and fulfilment.
When you feel or express gratitude for anything and everything you get, you start experiencing your life in a different way. You feel more positive vibes around you which keeps you energized and motivated. It should not just be a reaction to get what you want, but the kind where you notice every little thing and where you constantly look for the good even in unpleasant situations. It gives you a window to forgive those who/what have hurt you in past and letting go of things, thereby providing you freedom from those repetitive thoughts of unpleasant memories.
So start maintaining a journal for your daily doses of gratitude and experience the positivity around you, a transformation you always wanted.
My few moments of gratitude here:
- I am grateful to my life that provides me an opportunity to serve others.
- I am grateful to my parents who helped me shape my conscience and the virtue for what I am today.
- I am grateful to my teachers who have blessed me with their divine knowledge.
- I am grateful to the Universe for being my continuous guiding light towards the higher good for me and people I always wanted to serve.
- I am grateful to the people who have hurt me as they taught me lessons on how to be more refined.
- I am grateful to the sufferings around me who taught me compassion.
- I am grateful to love and be loved.
- I am grateful to all those, near or far away from me, who have inspired me with their knowledge and content.
- I am grateful to all those reading this write-up for providing me an opportunity to serve them with my life experiences with the intention to help them live better.
With so much love !
